Trip Out West
We had a great time on our vacation (without kids!)
First we went to Vegas and stayed at the MGM Grand.
We got to see all of the sites and sounds there. We visited the Hoover Dam.Where they were building a really neat bridge.
It was stinking hot!
We also visited the Grand Canyon!
We got to see the beautiful Red Rocks of Sedona as well.
The Painted Desert and Petrified Forest was really neat as well.
We couldn't pass up an opportunity to "stand on a corner in Winslow, Arizona." HA!
Overall we had a great time. We came away ahead in money from Daryl winning at a slot machine on the way out of town. We got to meet some really neat people at our Bed & Breakfast in Flagstaff. Thanks to our parents for watching the boys so we could get away for our 7th anniversary!

Surgery & Fillings Needed
Well, Nathan went to the dentist yesterday and he has two cavities. I guess his back teeth have really deep crevices in them that makes them really hard to clean out. I think I have the same issue since all of my back teeth have fillings as well. He goes in October and gets the fillings. They are small so he doesn't need to get numbed up which is good! He did a really good job at the appointment and he got a miniature toy camera as a prize. His favorite thing now is to make you say cheese and take your photo.
Jacob went back to the doctor today and he still has fluid in one ear. The other looks pretty good. The doctor suggested and we agreed that we are going ahead with tubes. He has his surgery on August 7th in the wee morning. We are hoping that really helps him out. I am getting a little tired of going to the doctor every month!

Job News from DW!!!
Well, it's now official. I have resigned my role from Southeast this week. I've been here for about a year and a half, and it's been a good ride. I've made tremendous foundational differences in both technology and overall staff culture.
Where am I going?
Well, I'm excited to say that I'm going "back" to a former church! In mid-August, I'll be rejoining the team at LifeChurch.tv as their Senior IT Architect. I'll be intimately involved, again, with the communication foundation for their national and international expansion. I worked at Life for several years from late 2003 until mid 2006 as their IT Director. I was there through 4 campus launches including their Internet Campus where I'll be regularly attending - probably most often on Tuesday evenings.
That's that! I'm excited and looking forward to two things in the next few weeks a) our big anniverary trip to Vegas and places West, and b) going back home to LifeChurch.tv to serve alongside an awesome team leading people to become fully devoted followers of Christ.
Stay Tuned!
Update 220pm EDT: No, we aren't moving to Oklahoma. We're staying in Kentucky. I get the privilege of working remotely - at home, Panera, coffee shops, etc. I'm both excited and scared of that particular part - scared because I'm an extreme extrovert, but excited because I'll be able to forge new friendships as a Jesus Geek Gypsie :)

Ear Infections and Potty Training, oh my!
Jacob has been super fussy the past few days. I took him to the doctor today and the ear infection monster is back. Ugh! He is on some medication and he will go back in 2-3 weeks. If it is not cleared up by then I think tubes are in his future. It kind of stinks though because the doctor said kids usually grow out of this by age 2 and he is not far off from that.
On a happy note, Nathan has really been doing well at potty training starting just last night. He finally started to tell us when he had to go. He says, "the poo poo is coming" whether he has to go #1 or #2. Ha! He has been doing pretty well today as well. He had a few accidents, but it is kind of hard when he is at YMCA childcare. I am glad it is the weekend and we can really work with him now. I can get used to this no diaper changing thing for him!

Hunter Gathering
This past weekend we went to visit Daryl's sister and family. His mom and dad and brother and family were there as well and we made a weekend out of it. It was filled with swimming, cook outs, eating, sandboxing, sliding, swinging, and lots more. We had a great time and the cousins had a blast playing with each other. Here are a few pictures of the boys...

Our First Pet
We decided to get our first pet as a family and as a married couple, in fact. It is a crown-tailed betta. Nathan kept denying the names we suggested until we said Bobber. So here is Bobber the betta fish...

Please pray for our friends. Daryl babysat her a long time ago and then we all ended up at the same college ministry together at Purdue.

Jacob's Update
Jacob had his 18 month (a few weeks late) check-up yesterday. He is doing well, but he still has an infection in one ear. He has battled these for a long time and the doctor suggested we go to an ENT doctor to see if anything should be done to help him. Our appointment is on Tuesday so I'll keep you updated with that.
Jacob finally started saying "mommy" yesterday. My kids are slow to say this word for some reason. I was "bobby" to Nathan until he was 2 I think. He is starting to pick up a few words so it is neat to see. His biggest obsession right now are animals. He loves to see pictures and make their noises. It is so cute.

Trip to Atlanta
We just got back yesterday from a family trip to the Atlanta area. We left on Wed and drove to my brother's house. He wasn't actually there since he is in New Orleans right now trying to catch all the bad guys they let go after Katrina. We had a wedding for my cousin on Saturday and then we drove back home Monday. It was a good visit and the boys got to play with their cousin who is similar in age. My sister-in-law is pregnant right now with another boy due at the beginning of August. What's up with all the boys? It was a lot of driving but a good trip overall. Here are a few of my favorite shots...

WiiFit
Yes, I am a dork. I made Daryl go to Meijer last night at midnight to get a WiiFit because I have been wanting one since I first heard about it. It is pretty neat. We'll see how good I am at keeping up with the routine. For those that don't know, this is a pad for our Wii video game where you stand on it and play games, do yoga, step aerobics, and other fitness related activities.

The Reveal
Sorry it has taken so long to post the photos of the bathroom renovation. Well, here they are...The photo above shows the new mirror, medicine cabinet, toilet, light, faucet, wall texture, vanity, sink top, and shower rod that we put in.
The above photo shows better the vanity and the flooring we installed. We originally wanted to tile the floor with real tiles but it did not work out because it would have created too high of a transition into the bathroom. Instead we found these really neat peel and stick tiles that can be stuck down on the floor and then grouted between. They look like the real thing and so far they are holding up really well.
